〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Marty McFly
CHARACTER AGE: 17
SERIES: Back to the Future
CHRONOLOGY: BTTF 3 - pulled in process of going to 1885
CLASS: Hero!
HOUSING: Anywhere (but bonus points awarded if roomed with doc!)
BACKGROUND:
The world Back to the Future takes place in is...basically ours, albeit in the 80's. Jaws exists, Star Wars is still pretty huge, everybody's into the bright colors and stuff that the world graced us with about 30 years ago.
Marty plays a big part in the storyline, though not as big as Doc. He's the friend to an inventor who is believed to be legally crazy in the town. During one of Doc's biggest experiments ending in one of the worst ways, Marty is shot into the past; 1955 to be exact. His teenage mom crushes on him, he meets one of the school's biggest bullies, and puts the future of him and his siblings into jeopardy. But with some quick thinking, he manages to save the future...and ultimately, change his parents altogether.
The second movie takes place right after the first. A trip to the future and a greedy idea of his ultimately brings disaster to his past. To save the present, Marty has to go back to the past to fix the disaster that he imagined, only for someone else to take.
He's not the scientist, or the greatest idea of a hero. Marty McFly is a teenage kid living in the 1980's, struggling with high school and dreaming with the idea of becoming a rock star one day. In the end he's the hero through and through, but the terms it came with weren't something he saw coming. Time wasn't exactly on his side!

PERSONALITY:
One of the things Marty is noted for in the trilogy is that he's both resourceful and clever. Majority of the things that happen in Back to the Future offer no warning whatsoever; from the get-go, Marty is forced to come up with ideas in the matter of a second or two. Normally this wouldn't be such a bad thing, but most, if not all of the situations he runs into ultimately affects his future or someone else's. He uses the resources he has from the future (or the past) to save his hide; for instance, he uses popular names known in the 1980's such as 'Clint Eastwood' or 'Calvin Klein' to hide his McFly roots from others. On a more extreme note, this is also seen when standing off against Mad Dog Tannen in the third movie. Marty used an idea from A Fistfull of Dollars where he protected himself against a bullet with an iron plated door; it was something he copied the movie, used in almost the exact same situation. Marty has a good talent for coming up with things on a whim, and using whatever is handy to his advantage.
Marty is very heroic, but at the same time, equally as reckless. He's one known to jump the gun in certain situations, getting himself into a scenario that could have been avoided with some rational thinking. When his dad is being bullied by Biff Tannen in the 1950's, Marty often stands in to help, but in turn the aggression is then focused on him. In the heat of the moment he often thinks of things as quickly as one can snap their fingers, which sometimes has less than desirable results. If Marty ends up punching someone in the face out of recklessness (or for a good cause, whatever), he has to deal with being chased around on a makeshift skateboard while the person he decked is trying to run him over in a car. The actions he takes often have reactions, which he seems to sometimes forget about. Or, at least, not take heed to.
But he has good intentions at heart. Marty will sacrifice himself for his family, friends and the future. Whether he almost gets himself shot in the Wild West to save his friend, or clings to a side of a car while trying to grab a future artifact in the past, he tries whatever he can to set things right.
The one thing Marty is probably most noted for is his pride. He doesn't view himself as a coward or anything in the very least, thanks to his father constantly being one. If anyone calls him something as small as a 'chicken', Marty will grow angry and defensive, willing to do anything to protect his name, no matter how stupid. This almost always gets him into trouble: when challenged to a race and being called a chicken for downturning it, he gets into a serious wreck that ends his future as a rockstar, and any possible chance at playing guitar in general. Being called 'yellow' almost killed him in the third movie, shown when his name appears on a tombstone in a picture from the future. Marty eventually learns to let these insults flow aside, but it's a very difficult thing for him to accomplish. And it's nowhere near the point where I'm taking him, so it should be fun!
His fears aren't something that's shown a lot through the movies, other than the normal things. Being hurt, death, fear for your parents or someone you care about, things like that. Though thinking about his parents, his situation before time changed, his fears would lie pretty close to his family and his own ego. Marty will stand and fight if the need be, but his self-esteem might not be the greatest. Calling him a chicken would refer him to being a coward, which he's afraid of being seen as. The thanks goes to his dad, who is so uncomfortable with himself he becomes a joke to the entire town.
Marty is incredibly loyal to his friends and family. Both doesn't have a very good reputation in Hill Valley at the beginning of the trilogy; his dad is a walking doormat, his mother is an alcoholic. Doc Brown is seen as a crazy scientist, who you'd best stay away from. Some people aren't afraid to voice their opinions, but Marty will give his own two cents on the matter. No matter what they're being put through, Marty will always stand beside the people he cares about until the bitter end!
One unique thing about Marty is that he runs a lot on emotions and isn't afraid to show it. If someone is getting bullied, he will get angry and stand up for them at once, rather than taking a moment and thinking things through before taking action. Instead of letting some emotions like fear and anxiety hold him back, he seems to use them as a fuel. This can be seen well when Doc is having problems setting up the wiring system on the night of the storm. Marty wastes no time in standing around and panicking; while it's obvious that he's distressed, he tries to help as much as he can until he's sent away. In regards to showing anger, he often stands up to others who pick on either himself or someone he cares about, which can get him into trouble sometimes.
In the end, Marty is just a teenager with a passion for music and a dream of becoming a rich rock star with his band. There's nothing special about him...other than the fact that his mom had a crush on him in high school. And he was in 2015 before it was 2000. And a few other things!
POWER:
Unfortunately (fortunately?), Marty is one-hundred percent human in the trilogy. Let's fix that!
For this game, Marty will have fire manipulation. His powers aren't super impressive; it's not like he can create fire twisters or anything impressive. Fireballs? Sure thing! Make a jet of flames coming out from his hand? Sounds like a good start. In the end maybe he can create some cool fire spiral or whatever, but that's going to take a hell of a lot of patience. Marty can have a fiery personality, but when it comes to patience he kind of lacks.
When it comes to most things though, Marty will not use his powers. They could be useful, but they're not normal. If worse comes to worse and he has to use them, he'll go ahead. But until then, he's just going to push the knowledge of having those powers to the side. After sending 1985 into a dystopian hellhole because of one bad action he caused, he's going to be real considerate of things afterwards!

[ This is Marty's first post, so you're going to have to excuse him. ]
...Right. Is this thing working? Hello?
[ He's just going to continue on, because he's in dire straits here. Like, this is an urgent matter that needs taken care of now. ] Okay. So, ah. My name's Marty and I got a question for people, I guess? I'm not sure how this thing works.
Is there anybody out there with these powers who can't control theirs? [ He pauses, as if he's expecting someone to come out and answer right away. Moving on, Marty! ] I don't know how many guitar string's I've snapped 'cause I can't keep this fire stuff away when I don't want it. The heat keeps snappin' 'em and I keep having to get more.
I mean, Jesus! This is my second guitar!
[ His first guitar are nothing but ashes scattered in the wind. He doesn't like to talk about it.
Needless to say, Marty is not exactly happy with these superpowers of his. Or the fact that he can't play his guitar like he really wants to, if it's not burningly obvious. ]
Who's ass do I have to kiss to play guitar normally for a night?
